Setting Yourself Apart

In case you haven’t noticed, we’re not shy. Especially when it comes to pointing out what makes us different. Like our ability to do both aerial and buried construction. Or our commitment to being completely accountable for our work, before, during and after the job. And most definitely, our record for safety.

What makes your company different? If you don’t know, it’s guaranteed your customers don’t know either. And that’s too bad, because being known for something is what will get you hired.

If you don’t know what makes you different, start with what you stand for—or what you’d like to stand for. Is it a commitment to safety? Is your company the fastest? The most agile? An industry leader? Do you have more seasoned pros working for you versus anyone else?

Avoid adopting “lowest price” as a differentiator. All it takes is one company with a lower price to steal your crown away from you.

Setting yourself apart isn’t something that occurs overnight. It’s proving time and time again that the promises you make are the promises you keep. But soon enough, the message will get through. People will hear “safety” or “innovative” or “super fast” and think of you.

Fading into the crowd is okay, if you’re into that sort of thing. Personally, we’d rather stand for something. That’s the S&N difference.
