Does Your Building Block First Responders’ Radio Signals?

It’s a good time to be an expert in DAS (distributed antenna system) project management. According to a recent article in Safer Building Coalition, public safety DAS is growing at an unprecedented rate. The article states:

“In a recent news release, ABI Research projected that the move from current narrowband systems to LTE-based public safety will grow at double-digit rates over the next five years. It’s anticipated that this astonishing growth will result in public safety platforms doubling their DAS spending by 2021. In turn, it has been forecasted that the revenue from in-building wireless public safety systems will grow to reach $1.7 billion in 2021.”

Today there has been an increase in emergency situations involving in-building sites and underground transportation systems such the DC Metro and the New York subway.

It’s critical that First Responders have the ability be to stay in radio contact with one another during any emergency, hence there is a push for the development and implementation of new public safety requirements.

A Public Safety Distributed Antenna System (DAS) like its cellular counterpart is a scalable solution. Through a network of antennas and the rebroadcast of dedicated public safety frequencies, this solution will deliver the reliable and enhanced coverage needed by all first responders regardless if they are in the interior of a building or in a stairwell.

Overall a Public Safety DAS is a key component in the ever changing Telecom industry that has the unique capability of ensuring the safety of all subscribers.
