Allen Powell manages all field operations for S&N Communications and leads all customer service and new business development efforts. Powell began his career in the cable and communications industry in 1983 and worked for numerous companies including GE Cablevision, Futurevision and TCI Cablevision.
In 1993, Powell founded his own company, Pyramid Construction of Virginia, Inc., to perform outside plant infrastructure services throughout the state of Virginia. In 1995, Powell saw the advantages of teaming up with a larger company and sold his business to S&N Communications. In 2014, Powell led the acquisitions of three subsidiary companies—Tower16, Stake Center Locating and SCE—to form a vertically integrated family of companies under the S&N umbrella.
George Baer joined S&N Communications in August 1997. Baer manages all field operation functions plus supports a number of other functions, including human resources, fleet management and safety and loss prevention. Baer served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer until 2014, when the positions were split. His full attention is now concentrated on operations.
Prior to joining S&N, Baer served as Assistant Corporate Comptroller for LLC International, Inc., a provider of integrated products and services relating to the design and engineering of wireless communications systems. Previously, he served as senior accountant with the JHM Group, a public company involved in the origination and servicing of mortgage loans and the trading of mortgage related securities. Baer is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
Debbie Scott joined S&N Communications in March 1996 and is responsible for all IT, accounting and office administration as well as the S&N call center. Prior to joining the company, Scott served as controller for Pease Architect & Engineering, a civil engineering firm. She also served for eight years as field accounting center manager/assistant controller for Consolidated Coin Caterers Corporation. Scott has 25 years of IT, management and accounting experience.
Ron Smith is part of the executive leadership team and manages all financial functions of the company, including accounting, finance, payroll, billing and receivables. He has been with S&N Communications since August 2013.
Prior to joining S&N, Smith served as Chief Financial Officer of Unifi Inc., a multi-national, textile-manufacturing company-publicly traded on the NYSE under the ticker symbol UFI. Mr. Smith joined Unifi in 1994 and served in various positions during his tenure, including Corporate Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, Treasurer and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development. Prior to joining Unifi, Ron worked as a financial auditor at Ernst and Young, LLP and is a graduate of Wake Forest University.
As President of Tower16 and SCE, both S&N subsidiary companies, Ed Humes manages a staff of more than 120 site development professionals and wireless construction technicians.
Prior to taking the helm at SCE and Tower16, Humes was Vice President of the Northeast Region of ATC Construction Services. In that position, he managed a regional staff of more than 200 employees from Maine to South Carolina.
Tony Belford, has over 20 years of experience in the utility locating business. As Senior Director of Operations and Business Development for Stake Center Locating, a subsidiary of S&N Communications, Tony manages a team of over 450 employees, operating in 38 states coast-to-coast. He has been with Stake Center for over 12 years, guiding and building the company into one of the most well recognized and well respected locating firms in the nation. Stake Center Locating is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tony’s education over the years enabled him to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from attending the colleges of Anthem & Dixie as well as Weber State University. Tony also attended Corning Cable System’s technology school where he obtained a LAN 500 fiber splicing certificate and passed the national FOA certification.
